The Recreation Coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of recreational programs, community events and activities that cater to all age groups within the community.  You will work closely with local organizations, schools, and community members to develop inclusive, engaging, and accessible programs that promote physical activity, social interaction, and cultural enrichment. You will also be responsible for the overall supervision of the golf operations including tournaments, marketing, sponsorship, special events, liquor service and the pro shop and liaising with league reps.

Support compliance efforts and the smooth operation of recreation facilities to meet the aquatic, fitness, recreation, and cultural needs of the community exhibiting strong public relations, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills, along with exceptional customer service abilities, including effective communication and collaboration with staff, user groups, and community organizations.

Desired qualifications include:
  • Diploma/degree in Recreation & Leisure Administration, Kinesiology, Physical Education or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in aquatics, fitness, golf course management and recreation programs and activities within a municipality would be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian Life Saving Society standards, Ontario Health Regulations and other applicable regulations including but not limited to Ontario Pool Regulation 565.
  • Valid National Lifeguard Service certification considered an asset.
  • Valid Fitness Instructor of Personal Training Certification considered an asset.
  • Must be self-directed and motivated to keep up to date on changes and trends in aquatics, fitness, golf and community recreation programming and able to move forward in an ever-changing industry.
  • Strong Supervisory experience in a rec management setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office Suite applications, Canva, and recreation booking/reservation software systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills and excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Highly developed organizational, analytical, planning and time management skills and efficiency to detail.
  • Clean criminal record check (at the applicant’s expense) prior to start date.
