The City of Dryden is seeking a dedicated and experienced Waterworks Manager to oversee the operation of our water and wastewater treatment plants, as well as our distribution and collection systems, ensuring safe, sustainable, and efficient water services for our community.  Under the direction of the Director of Public Works, the Waterworks Manager is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance and administration of municipal water treatment, distribution and wastewater collections systems.  This role ensures regulatory compliance with Ontario’s water and environmental standards and supervises a team of technical staff to deliver reliable and safe water services to the community.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing operational plans, budgets, and capital projects to support infrastructure upgrades and system improvements, ensures compliance with Ontario’s drinking water and environmental regulations and works closely with government agencies, generates and completes all mandatory reporting required by government agencies, prepares reports, analyses and performance metrics for council and regulatory bodies, coordinates emergency response for incidents impacting water quality, availability or wastewater management and engages with the public and addresses concerns regarding water quality and service delivery.

Position Requirements:  
  • A Civil or Environmental Engineering Technology diploma or related field.
  • Valid Ontario Ministry of Environment (MOE) Certifications: Class 2 Water Treatment, Water Distribution and Class 3 Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Distribution.
  • Proven supervisory/management experience in the operation and maintenance of municipal water treatment and distribution systems and wastewater treatment and collection systems, with Overall Responsible Operator (ORO) experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the current Ontario legislation related to water and wastewater, including the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA).
  • Knowledge of the Drinking Water Quality Management Standard (DWQMS).
  • Proven experience in health and safety program delivery and management.
  • Experience with Maintenance Management Systems, GIS, GPS, AutoCad and Asset Management an asset.
  • Proven to possess an innovative focus on service delivery, commitment to continuous improvement and customer service.
  • Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must be available to provide leadership in emergency situations and the flexibility to operate outside normal business hours.
  • Have and maintain a valid Class “G” driver’s license.      
  • Must provide a clean criminal record check and driver’s abstract at applicant’s expense prior to start date.
This position is a non-union position, forty (40) hours per week with a salary range of
$97,032.00 - $111,467.20 based on qualifications, education and experience.  The City of Dryden offers a comprehensive benefit package as per City policy.
