The City of Dryden is seeking a dedicated and experienced Operations Manager to lead the team responsible for maintaining the City’s essential assets and infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe, reliable, and well-maintained community assets and high standard levels.  This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the community while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Job function:
Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the Operations Manager is responsible for effectively managing the operations and maintenance of municipal infrastructures in alignment with Provincial Minimum Maintenance Standards (MMS) and City policies. Key areas of responsibility include the planning, coordination, and supervision of municipal services such as:
  • Roads, bridges, sidewalks, streetlights, and traffic lights
  • Stormwater management systems, including ditches, culverts, and catch basins
  • Municipal landfill and waste collection services operations
  • City parks, green spaces and cemetery operations

The Operations Manager will work closely with internal departments, external contractors and the public to ensure high service standards, and operational excellence. This position includes the supervision of staff, budget management, participation in the development and implementation of capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, and service delivery within The City of Dryden.

Position Requirements:  
  • A graduate of a three-year Civil Engineering Technology program from a recognized Community College with or ability to obtain C.E.T certification for O.A.C.E.T.T.
  • Successful completion of applicable Ontario Ministry of Transportation Road Schools or Ontario Good Roads Certified Road Supervisor (CRS) designation, Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) and Playground Inspector (CPPI).
  • Demonstrated working knowledge in the areas of legislation pertaining to Ministry of Transportation (MTO), Ministry of Labour (MOL), Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MOECP), Waste Management, Waste Diversion, Environmental Protection Act, and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Sector specific Health and Safety Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • 5+ years of progressive supervisory/management experience in a unionized, municipal setting.
  • Have and maintain a class “G” license.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring and coaching experience to foster a supportive work culture to build a diverse, creative, and dedicated staff team.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of municipal budget planning, forecasting and monitoring.
  • Must provide a clean criminal record check and driver’s abstract at applicant’s expense prior to start date.

This position is a non-union management position, forty (40) hours per week with a salary range of
$115,003.20 - $126,006.40 based on qualifications, education and experience.  The City of Dryden offers a comprehensive benefit package as per City policy.
