The Human Resources Assistant, under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, assists in the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department and is responsible for providing advice and guidance on the consistent application and interpretation of Human Resources policies, procedures, applicable legislation, and collective agreements.
The Human Resources Assistant will assist with labour relations, recruitment, onboarding; policy and procedure development and interpretation; training and development, Health and Safety stats, HRIS and provide backup for the Payroll and Benefits Administrator.
Desired qualifications include:
- Diploma from Human Resources, Business Program or related area considered an asset.
- A minimum of three (3) years HR experience, including familiarity with recruitment, onboarding, compensation, employee relations, collective agreements, health and safety, training and development and payroll experience preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of systems and legislation that guide human resources including Employment Standards, Human Rights, Occupational Health and Safety and AODA.
- Experience with collective agreements considered an asset.
- Previous experience with HR information systems considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office Suite applications, Canva, Smartsheet, SharePoint and the ability to develop a working knowledge of databases and systems used in HR considered an asset.
- Demonstrated customer service skills and excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Highly developed organizational, analytical, planning and time management skills and efficiency to detail.
- Clean criminal record check (at the applicant’s expense) prior to start date.
