Term Position: 35.0 hours per week for a period of approximately six (6) months or return of incumbent
Hourly Wage:  First 30 days worked at current rate of pay, after 30 days worked $32.18/hour for remainder of term and benefits as per the current IBEW Local 1730 Collective Agreement
Job Summary:
As a member of the Dryden Public Library, the Library Technician will be responsible for providing front line customer service to patrons. In addition, the Library Technician will regularly take part in the planning and delivery of programs for children and adults of all ages, including recurring, specialized and outreach programs; contribute to library marketing, including the design and development of posters and other print materials, and regular website/social media maintenance.  The Library Technician will assist in cataloging and/or inputting new material into the Library’s Integrated Library System (ILS). The Library Technician will assist in administering the Library’s Interlibrary Loan system and other duties as assigned, such as cataloguing, circulation, reference assistance to patrons, clerical activities and directing/ monitoring Student Library Pages. Work schedule may include daytime and evening hours and may include weekend hours as scheduled by the CEO.  
Position Requirements:
  • Library Technician Diploma from accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Two (2) years previous experience in a library setting or services including cataloguing, acquisitions and circulation of a variety of library materials and programming for all ages.
  • Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft applications, experience with ILS (Integrated Library System) applications.
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment including cash register, copy machine, and other related office equipment.
  • Familiar with social media platforms and ability to update as delegated by the CEO.
  • Cash handling experience
  • Demonstrated customer service skills to deal effectively with patrons and staff.
  • Highly developed communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Certified in First Aid/CPR or ability to obtain
