Casual Employment-on an as needed basis
Hourly Wage: $28.12/ hour with benefits as per the Employment Standards Act.
Job Summary:
As a member of the Dryden Public Library, the Library Technician will be responsible for providing front line customer service to patrons. In addition, the Library Technician will carry out day to day operations as directed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or designate, such as circulation, reference assistance to patrons, programming for all ages, clerical activities as well as direct and monitor Student Library Pages. Work schedule may include daytime, evening and weekend hours as scheduled by the CEO.  
Position Requirements:
  • Library Technician Diploma from accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Two (2) years previous experience in a library setting or services including circulation of a variety of library materials and programming for all ages.
  • Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft applications, experience with ILS (Integrated Library System) applications, and the ability to learn new applications quickly;
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment including cash register, copy machine, and other related office equipment.
  • Familiar with social media platforms and ability to update as delegated by the CEO.
  • Cash handling experience
  • Demonstrated customer service skills to deal effectively with patrons and staff;
  • Highly developed communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Certified in First Aid/CPR or ability to obtain
  • Able to work evenings, weekdays and weekends.
  • Required to submit a clean Criminal Background/Vulnerable Sector check at their own expense prior to start date.
